WBCB Sauce

Like I said in my opening post, any random thoughts I have on the NBA are quickly going to be posted onto this site. Lately, i've had some things to get off my chest about the NBA so it's time to bust the cherry. It shall be called "The Sauce"

Blake Griffin A Bit Overrated (As of right now)

Listen I get it. Blake Griffin is an exciting player. He jumps through the building and puts out ridiculous fantasy numbers. But as of now I think he's more style than substance. I've watched a bunch of Clipper games in the past couple weeks in my free time and I've noticed that in the half court offense, the Clippers are very stagnant. I think a lot of the stagnation comes from Blake Griffin. (not all but he should get some responsibility) A big cause of this is Griffin's lack of a perimeter jump shot on the pick & roll. And if you see Chris Paul's drop in assist numbers, this is a key cause since he doesn't have David West to bag those 18 footers. Blake Griffin HAS to learn how to score without dunking the ball, point blank. (He also has trouble finishing over size)Blake does have the potential to improve. The form on this jump-shot really isn't all that bad but there is a lack of consistency with the way he shoots and how he uses his legs to get off his shot. These things are correctable. But as Griffin gets older and his athleticism will inevitably decline, he's going to have to rely on that perimeter game. Ask Amar'e Stoudemire. And having said all this, I didn't even touch his free throw shooting. Shall a link a youtube clip of his two airballs?

Another thing on Griffin: Defense. For somebody as physically impressive, this guy should be miles better defensively. This area I don't think is going to improve dramatically. (but he has worked on his flopping) . All in all, BG has very poor defensive instincts it and looks obvious that BG is completely aware of this. For a guy with his athletic gifts I think it's a bit startling that he's more concerned with flopping or taking charges than actually contesting shots at the rim. Hopefully he proves me wrong in the end because I am really rooting for the Clippers this season. I just think the Chris Paul/Blake Griffin duo has been a tad disappointing.

Speaking of disappointing, have you seen Griffin's Kia commercials? Some people just don't belong in front of a camera.

The Nets...No....The Nyets

Truth be told, i'm a Nets fan. This is a day after Dwight Howard has opted in with the Orlando Magic so if you can manage to stop laughing maybe you'll get a good read out of this.

As a Nets fan I don't know how to feel about Gerald Wallace. The Nets gave away a top three protected lottery pick for this guy as it appeared Billy King was backed into a corner with no leverage and had to satisfy his star point guard. Does Deron Williams hang around for Brooklyn? Who really knows. The Good? His brother has committed to play basketball at a prep school next season in New Jersey. Kendall Jones was quoted as saying:

"He wants me to be closer to him so he can help me and watch some of my games"

That's just an interesting comment. One other thing to note, and this could be chalked up to pure speculation but from what I've heard, Deron Williams' wife loves being in New York. Actually I don't think it's speculation, I believe Deron has said this in an interview. So maybe with all this and his new endorsement dollars he may actually want to stick around. But of course there is a lot of pressure on the Nets to field a more-than-competitive team. Does Wallace do that for now? It's an improvement and the only positive I can really bring out of that is that Deron probably signed off on the move. He's basically the assistant GM to Billy King.

Nene Heading to the Wiz

The Wizards took on a lot of money when they made a multi-team trade by bringing in Nene and shipping out Javale McGee and Nick Young. Having said that, I think it was the right move by bringing in a solid big man and Veteran presence. John Wall has been forgotten about in DC, but if the Wizards surround this kid with the right talent then I see Wall becoming among the elite at his position. Bold statement? Maybe, but if you see his numbers right now you might care to agree with me.

Finishing Thought on Dwight

Your going to go through all this speculation Again next season. So do you really want a competitive team or do you want to challenge Lebron James' narcissism?

First Post, Here I am. Like it or Not.

I'm going to make this short and sweet: When I get the itch to rant on the NBA or anything on my mind then I will make my way to this blog and start posting away.

I'm going to put this out there now....This is not the Washington Post. If your a smart ass reader who wants to comment on my grammer or what not, then just go scratch and move on to another website. I am not trying to appeal to you. Honestly, I don't think i'm trying to appeal to anybody. I just like to talk sports and specifically basketball. If your a basketball head then I think you'll like it here. Plain and Simple.

Also, not like you should give a squat but here and there I may post tidbits about my life or any ironic experiences that I deem worthy to drop here. Again, if you don't like, exercise your freedom to move on to another site. But if you do like what you read, I appreciate that and hope you drop some thoughts in the comment box from time to time.

Anyways, I have had some time off from work because of illness (long story), so expect a few posts this weekend.
